Former “Friends” cast member Tim Allen, who gained fame as the flamboyant and oft-quoted, “Mr. Rogers,” has been hospitalized after suffering burns to his hands, arms and face in a horrific car accident.

Allen was driving to work at ABC Thursday morning when his vehicle was involved in a fiery crash with another car that happened while the star was stopped in traffic, according to ABC.

When he was released from the hospital in Los Angeles, he was “feeling great,” said a person close to the 53-year-old actor, adding that he would be speaking with ABC about a possible interview.

“He’s handsome as a guy that’s got a bit of a problem,” the source told PEOPLE at the time. “He’s been crying and hugging all his friends.”

It was Allen’s second accident after he was involved in the fiery wreck of a 2007 Mercedes as well as a 2013 accident in which he suffered minor injuries.

“I just got home from the hospital,” he said at the time. “We lost a tire. We lost a tire.”

Allen, whose real name is Tim Allen Green, told the press during the second accident, “I was in that accident just like anyone else. I was thrown through the windshield, I lost control of the car, it went careening into a pole.”

The star, who was a passenger in the other driver’s car, was not seriously hurt in the first car crash of his career and stayed with his friends through the ordeal.

A month after the accident he told Ellen DeGeneres that he was lucky to be alive and that it changed “everything” in his life.
