The Stockton Police Department is a full participant in the investigation into the murder of a missing woman.

According to the department, “The search for Jennifer McBride continues.”

McBride left work at 6 p.m. on Jan. 14. That’s when the 25-year-old mother of three called her boss from a pay phone in the parking lot of their apartment complex at 8500 W. Main Street, and told him to check on her.

When his partner, Officer Chris Williams, went to McBride’s apartment at 7:40 p.m., he found the woman’s body in the living room.

“She was on the floor on her back with her legs spread apart, a single knife protruding from her, with both of her hands placed on her head,” he wrote.

According to an obituary shared by the American Funeral Homes Association, McBride was 28.

“She was very athletic and outgoing, but in her family she was a quiet and shy person,” said her maternal aunt, Patricia Cothran.

She was known for her “amazingly compassionate heart” and was always giving to others, her aunt said.

“She didn’t want to bother anyone,” she said. “She just wanted to show people what good people could do. And she didn’t want her life to end in a tragic way.”
