US tennis star feels some people don’t want Black players to succeed and that’s why they don’t have as much success. I think there’s a bigger problem at play here, not to mention the issue of racism.

It’s hard to say there’s a more clear case of what I would call a double standard.
1) Racism is a major problem on all sides of the court. The black player is a minority on the tour and may have to deal with an even larger percentage of the white players being racist.
2) Racism is at the root of bad behavior on the tour. As we saw with the incident with Borg, it’s not just the players, but the coaches and support staff who are often the ones to act inappropriately. The black players have to deal with this on a daily basis with the same players as the black and a large portion of the white players.
As for the top players, they may be frustrated that they don’t have a chance to beat the best white players on tour even after a long streak of being the best.

True, but who cares about beating the best? What’s at stake is not beating the best white players, but beating them in the best environment they can find. A win in Paris is still a win on tour, not just a win on a different court.
