Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter mourns death of ‘baby brother’ Aaron Carter with sister Kandi
Nick and Aaron Carter were best friends and high school sweethearts who grew up in Phoenix.
Aaron was shot and killed early Monday morning in Atlanta. His younger brother Nick Carter (not pictured here) remembered his “baby brother” as “a great guy” and “one of my best friends.”
Nick Carter said: “There were no words and we were just in the same room. Our thoughts and prayers are with Aaron’s family. He was a great guy.”
Aaron Carter, 25, died after being shot around 10:20 a.m. ET in a vehicle at an intersection on Georgia 400 near Peachtree Road in Atlanta. He later died at the scene.
Aaron’s older sister Kandi Carter has confirmed her brother’s death to the Associated Press. She said Nick Carter was a good brother and “a great guy.” She said they had been in a car accident together.
Kandi said the family is “very relieved and looking forward to the future.”
A police report from Monday said the driver of the car was identified as a 23-year-old woman believed to be Georgia Tech student Hannah Johnson.
She was found dead on scene, the police report stated. She was said to have suffered a gunshot wounds to the abdomen.
She was reportedly in the car with another female, who was wearing a jacket with a hood. Police did not say which direction the car was moving. The other person was found dead outside the car on the side of the road.
Police said they believe the accident happened in the city’s northwest, though they were unable to get a more specific location from the driver.
Nick Carter had been working for a contractor and was heading home to be with his girlfriend Kandi, whom he married in early April, about 100 miles north of Atlanta. Nick Carter tweeted his love to his friends on Monday morning: “Sending love to Kandi and Nick. We are now united as one. The Carter family, we will miss you Aaron. I love you a lot.”
